What We Do

The mission of Cassinia Housing is to relieve the suffering, distress and helplessness of people in need by providing housing or housing-related benefits.

As a registered not-for-profit charity, we're dedicated to alleviating the acute shortage of affordable accomodation through direct provision and strategic partnerships.

The Challenge

Australia is facing an escalating housing crisis. Record levels of homelessness and rent stress are no longer confined to major cities but have spread deep into regional and rural areas, leaving families and individuals without a place to call home. The government at all levels has been swamped by the sheer volume of the issue as are charities and support groups involved with the sector.

Cassinia Housing is focussed on options to alleviate this by identifying ways to provide accommodation options or partner with groups working in the sector to boost their capacity. The project focusses on regional areas where there is a particularly acute shortage of properties.

Our Current Focus: Bendigo

Cassinia Community, after researching the problem to determine where and how we can make a meaningful difference has commenced work focusing on the Bendigo region. We are in the process of facilitating a series of public discussions to form a diverse group of citizens to identify and empower a variety of options to increase the availability of affordable housing stock.
